Imminent departure......
I fly out tomorrow afternoon to begin my long journey to the sandbox.
I finished packing my seabag (king size; 100 pounds) and pick up my weapon on the way to the airfield.......get this for military intelligence: I'll have my weapon for the flight, but I still can't have a knife or mouthwash.........
The trip average is 36-38 hours (including fueling stops/plane turnovers, ect.) and I'm sure I will be offline for a few days. The next post will be either from Kuwait or Al Asad..........thankyou all for your continued support and prayers........

do you have an address yet? we can send off a care package now and hopefully you'll get it in a month or so :)
i'm not sure if pie will last that long in a box??!?!
Carl, be safe n go and show them what the US is made of. I'm sure the Navy will rely heavily on your gifts as a critical care nurse but also as a sensible, dependable, tough, (but also caring), 100% awesome man, father, brother, son, grandson and friend. We could not be any more proud of you than we are right now! Semper Fi! Honor! Courage! Commitment! Party on!
Hello Dearest Friend
I am linking your blog to mine so if you get emails from strange artsy types, you'll know it's just my friends.
hugs and prayers like incense to Jesus on your behalf without ceasing. Ness
Re: the flight taking 36-38 hours seems reasonable to me, considering the fact that you'll be dealing with "plane turnovers". Make sure you keep your seat belt fastened at all times when the plane is in flight. Thank you and have a pleasant flight. And remember, please do not discharge your weapon until we have landed safely in Iraq.
Hey Odette!
Should you find that the pie will not last that long, let me know and I'll give you my address.
Hey Carl!
Are you sure you don't want to change your mind and spend your long vacation in Illinois? Let me know and I'll be there to pick you up in about 18 hours, give or take. Maybe less if I take the Mustang. I'll let you drive home as long as you steer clear of Sleepy Hollow.
Carl, forget your dad's Mustang, I'll pay the friendly skies of United to get you home. Take good care of yourself, you're also a 100% awesome nephew.
Hmm, after reading these comments I think I know these people! :) Where is Sleepy Hollow? If I had a Quilt Shop that's what I would name it! Sleepy Hollow Quilts...now someone will steal my name :( Oh well, the chances of my ever owning a quilt shop are practically nil. Aren't you glad you created this blog so that all of us can get acquainted with one another? Hi Dad, Hi Uncle, Hi Sis :) You all sound like so much fun. Stay safe Carl. I mean it! Talk to you soon. My blog address in case your family/friends who don't know us are curious. Carl's link is on the left panel under the title
In Harms Way.

Carl,
You should be in the air by now.
I looked at the blog photos. You guys have nice manicured nails. I am sure that will help with defeating the insurgents.
Keep up the good work. Lynelle and I are proud that you are keeping us safe. We pray for you and your fellow soldiers. Come home safe.
We will be neighbors (almost) next month. Lynelle and I will be in Turkey for 3 weeks. I guess having lunch with us out of the question.
Take Care

Dear Carlito,
Unless you really like playing in the sandbox, it seems like it is not going to be "Carlito's Way" at all! Except for the cheerful people, the wonderful weather, and the peaceful, relaxing surroundings :)
You are not alone Brother...you are loved with an everlasting love!
Hey Odette!
I live much closer and since Todd gave me a key...I already ate the pie!
Hey Carlito, do you still want your key back? I could ship it to you via carrier pigeon...
Happy Valentines day. Awesome job on the blog. Look forward to future updates and then your safe return.

Dear Carlito,
It's still not your way...and group won't be the same without you. I think we will have to focus more attention on giving Van a hard time now :)
By the way, did you know that your atlas articulates anteriorly with your occipital condyles? Fascinating!!
More medical genius to follow...
Hey Carl, nice to hear from you. I was finally able to see your site it's very nice. Take care and stay low. Let me know if there is anything you need.
